Assistance Towing Tragedy -

FROM BOATU.S. TOWING SERVICES

Captain Lee McCune of TowBoatU.S. Islamorada (in the Florida Keys) died in a tragic boating accident last night (April 1st) , after being dispatched to help out a BoatU.S. Member.

While underway just North of Steamboat Channel in Cotton Key, his boat hit something and unexpectedly barrel rolled over in a clockwise pattern.  It was a place he'd navigated thousands of times before, but there was an unusually low springtime tide drop in water level.
His wife Captain Diana, who was also on board, was launched over the port side and thankfully received only minor injuries since she was wearing an inflatable life jacket.  Captain Lee though was trapped under the towboat and didn't make it out alive.
He is the son of Captain Barrie McCune who owns the company, and was aspiring to take over the family business as she nears retirement.

OUR THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS ARE WITH THE FAMILY OF CAPT LEE
