IN MEMORY - TOWBOAT CAPTAIN JOHN REDLER

TOWBOATU.S. Captain John  Reler had just completed a BOATU.S. member tow in the Barnstable, Mass., area and was on his way back to Marion Harbor when his TowBoat Triple J began to take on water. Redler was the only person on board the vessel. 
The Coast Guard and other agencies began a search after watchstanders from the Sector Southeastern New England command center received a distress call at approximately 1 a.m. from the Triple J’s captain, reporting that his vessel was taking on water.
The Wareham, Mass., harbormaster found the Triple J unmanned and partially submerged around 6 a.m. approximately three miles south of Hog Island Channel. Divers were then called in an Redler was found and identified.
A Memorial Service was held Monday, May 21st at 2 PM at the Friends Meeting House, 5 Longfellow Park, Cambridge, MA. John Manderville Redler, of Marion formerly of Chestnut Hill, lovingly survived by his beloved spouse Juli Collins-Thompson & his son John Dereck Aubrey Redler. His mother Judy M. Redler of Chestnut Hill, & his brother, Nicholas M. Redler of Boston.
