LAKE OF THE OZARKS, Mo. - A day on the water ended in tragedy yesterday for an Oklahoma man and his nephew.

William C. Ray, 53, of Newcastle, Okla., and Scott A. Kimble, 39, of Buhler, Kan., were headed north at the 17-mile marker in an 18-foot Bass Tracker at 9 a.m., Thursday, when a larger cruiser passed by approximately a half-mile away. Misjudging the size of the wake, Kimble told the Water Patrol that the bass boat was traveling at about 45-50 mph as it hit the wake at a 90-degree angle. The boat reportedly jumped the first wake and was tipped hard to starboard by the second, dumping both men into 56F water.

Without lifejackets and weighed down by heavy clothing, the men began swimming for shore. After Kimble reached a dock he looked back to find Ray facedown in the water. Shortly thereafter, a Lake Ozark Fire Boat arrived at the scene and pulled Ray from the water and began pulmonary resuscitation. The effort was unsuccessful. Ray was declared dead by drowning at 11:07 a.m. at Lake Regional Hospital in Osage Beach, Mo.

OUR THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS ARE WITH THE FAMILIES OF MR. KIMBLE
This is the second time in a week that fisherman have been in the water, last Friday (4/15/11) a small fishing boat was swamped by wind waves in Indian Creek cove of the Gravois Arm.  Putting some fishermen in the water, IN THIS CASE, ALL of them luckily made it to shore - - -

Along with ATLANTIS DIVE, we recovered that boat and there were NO INJURIES -

Captain Dave Anderson of TOWBOATU.S. and Atlantis Dive crewman, approaching capsized  Bass Boat to begin recovery.
