Sometimes a "GOLD CARD" Really ISN'T!

A little "confusion" followed a tow this afternoon:  These folks were broke down with engine failure, hardly 15 minutes from our #1 Port at the 11 mile mark.  The owner/operator had called us direct by cell phone and during the process of getting the information I needed to dispatch a boat to his aid,  I asked if he was a "BOATUS" member to which he replied "yes", I asked if he knew his service level and he said he had a "GOLD" card - -.  The BOATUS GOLD level is Unlimited / Freshwater & Saltwater and the "premium" member level, providing 100% coverage for any on the water assistance.  I arrived on scene,  took them in tow for about 3 1/2 miles to their dock at the 11 mile mark.  With the entire job taking just a few minutes over an hour - the operator and his 6 passengers safely at the dock, we set about doing the paperwork - -  he hands me his "GOLD" card - -  which turns out to be the WEST ADVANTAGE GOLD CARD - which does include, (along with other great advantages) a BOATUS membership, but only the BASIC level, which provides up to $50 off any on-water assistance.  I advised him his GOLD card was not a BOATUS UNLIMITED GOLD level, but he would be getting $50 off the One hour tow charge.  I also explained he could easily upgrade to an UNLIMITED Freshwater level.  A little disappointed, but glad to be back to his dock, he took the whole thing well and vowed to "upgrade" his level ASAP.
